Have you ever heard the phrase, “source of income?” What about, “revenue source?” I have heard those phrases most of my life. Interestingly, I didn’t realize what those simple phrases have done to limit me until this morning during an aha moment in the shower.
I have made a bold move recently which will take me from my safety zone out into the world in a really big way. I’m kind of jumping off the cliff, both feet with no parachute. Good thing I know that I have wings and I can fly.
As I was in the shower this morning, I was having a talk with my higher self. On my mind was the intensity of the responsibility that I am taking on as I go from a SAHM relying on a fixed income to a single mom, responsible for providing for 5 children. The words that came out of my mouth went something like this…
“I really have enjoyed having knowing that I have a steady source of income. What am I going to do when it’s always up in the air?”
At that moment, I got a feeling of peace. As the warm water ran over my body, I felt all of my worries just wash away. And, I got the most amazing impression.
There is no cloud that is the single source of rain. There is no river that is the source of all the water. If God can provide all of the rain through different clouds, then certainly he can provide for my needs through many ways.
And… rain isn’t the only way that flowers get water. There are hoses and sprinklers and watering cans. My kids often have water fights with squirt guns or water balloons. A car might drive by and splash water from the gutter. The morning provides dew. So many ways that we can think of and so many beyond our understanding.
Yesterday morning, I stepped outside to a sunny morning and it was raining. I looked up and couldn’t see any clouds. Proof positive that even when you can’t see the source, the rain can still find you.
How many fun ways can you think of that water can find its way to a plant? Get creative, think outside the box. I look forward to seeing some of your comments below!
