It is a new year. Interesting, isn’t it, how fast time flies? It seems like just yesterday we were planning for Y2K and then it was the Mayan Calendar. 2020 seemed like it was so far away. I couldn’t imagine what life would be like. I don’t think I ever thought I would get here. And yet, here I am.
Over the last few years, I have seen a surge of people who choose a theme for the year. I don’t know if it is a new fad or if it is just something of which I am now aware. Either way, I have chosen words the last few years. Each year it has helped to shape the way the year has gone.
This year, as I lay in bed on January 1, after the New Year’s Eve festivities of Uno Flip and sparkling apple cider, I pondered my word for 2020. It needed to be a good one. It needed to encompass where I have come on my journey and it needed to really be a stretch word.
Lying there, “New Beginning” came to mind. As I pondered what one word could encompass what I choose to embody this year, the word “Emergence” came to mind. This year I feel called to step into my power. I feel called to embrace my gifts and talents and to bring them into the world.
I have been following Derek Rydall for a while and he has created a philosophy called the Law of Emergence. He teaches that we already are what we are. We are already whole and complete, we just need to allow ourselves to emerge. There is no special thing we need to become, if we will open up, what we already are will become apparent.
I hope you will join me as I emerge this year. I am so excited to see what unfolds.
Steve Pavlina made a goal to blog every day of 2020. He challenged his readers to do the same thing. I will be blogging my journey 2020. I think it will be fun to see how life plays out. This will be me, real and raw. I hope that as you come along, you will find ways that you, too, can Live Life Radically.
